Solvang
July 2, 2019
It’s been two years since we last checked in with Felicia Michaels and her family. And now their story is available to own. We have a lot to catch up on, so let’s get started…
I thought Solvang was supposed to return last summer. What happened?
The Broken Road series happened. At the beginning of last year, I was still writing the final book in the series. Last year was filled with editing. I fell behind where I wanted to be with writing Solvang. By the time I could start writing, I had missed the dates I had wanted to post it. And I ended up writing the last four mysteries back-to-back.
I had a choice to make - post it in the fall (despite it mostly taking place in the summer) or release the collection this summer. I decided to release it as a collection, which allowed me to take a (short) break from writing and editing.
What would you like to share about the last four mysteries?
There is a wedding, but I’m not saying whose. I want that to be a surprise. There are a few babies. We get to meet more of the staff at The Elskede and a few other venues within my fictional version of Solvang.
I will share that Felicia continues to deal with family issues while trying to solve these mysteries.
What’s next?
I know what’s planned. But I’m constantly modifying my plan. There will be a Halloween-themed short story this October and another holiday-themed short story next summer. Also next year will be another novel, currently planned for late July. But I’m still writing. I need to learn to stop promising stories that are still in progress.
With that in mind, I plan to take a break next year before focusing on prep work for the long-promised Mad Dog Chronicles spin-offs. I know I’ve been talking about them for about five years. But I’ve recently started to put my notes together on them.
