Year of the Tiger

October 2, 2024

I’m excited to finally be able to talk about my upcoming release Time for Love. I’ve been working on this collection for about four years. Five years if you include the two short stories that used to be here on my website - Be My Valentine and A Halloween Story.  The romantic collection has twenty short stories - ten about how a couple got engaged and ten about how a couple met. The story I’m going to talk about today is Year of the Tiger, a short story taking place on Chinese New Year 1998.

Rachel has had a string of romances that have ended badly. She doesn’t have trouble finding someone, just finding the right someone. Christopher feels this is his year - the year he will meet the person he will marry and he has his life planned for what will happen after he meets her. So how do they meet? You’ll have to read the 2nd story in the collection to find out.

How does this story relate to other stories in the gagengirl universe?

The characters in this story were created for this story. So they are all brand new. But it does have ties to some of my other stories. Christopher’s best friend eventually marries a character who previously existed and lived in Seattle. In the story, Christopher and his best friend talk about going into business together and starting a new company. The new company is where Cassidy Piscina’s brother-in-law will eventually work in Crazy Dreams.

What can you share about Rachel?

Rachel is an artist with a creative spirit. When she isn’t painting, she is crocheting or making jewelry. She lives with her best friend. Her parents moved to Seattle from Taiwan.

And what can you share about Christopher?

Christopher is logical, a computer engineer. He is incredibly intelligent and a planner. His parents met in Seattle. His mom is from Jamaica and his dad is from Taiwan.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about this story?

It’s a romance, the story of how Rachel and Christopher met. Spoiler alert… they are meant to be. (It shouldn’t really be a spoiler, the collection is about happy endings.)

What is next for you?

Time for Love is finally going to be released on October 15, 2024. So over the next several days, I’ll be talking about the stories and sharing the music that inspired each one. I haven’t decided which story I’ll tell you about tomorrow. While promoting this release, I’m writing again. What do you think about ghost stories? In two years, I hope you’ll enjoy a collection of 13.
