Crazy Dreams
March 8, 2023
Crazy Dreams was released in August 2021. I was still battling long covid and the book received no promotion. And that’s a shame, because everyone who has read it tells me it’s their favorite of my books. It’s not a romance or a mystery or action-adventure. It’s a journey of self-discovery.
The main character Cassidy Piscina quits a stable job to chase a crazy dream. And because she does, her life completely changes. She is one of my favorite characters. And not just because she is an asthmatic like me. Cassidy is a strong woman who tries to make the impossible possible. And, spoiler alert, she defies the odds to make those crazy dreams come true.
Is this story related to any other stories in the gagengirl universe?
Yes. Cassidy’s best friend Melia is the brother of a country singer I created for my murder mystery musical. And he never even makes an appearance in the musical. (I created more characters than I actually used.) But he does finally get to appear near the end of this novel. Another of the 200+ characters I created for that musical also makes an appearance. Kay Keahi of Keahi Swimwear (& a former swimmer) makes a brief appearance.
The friend Cassidy refers to as her little little little sister, Cecile Madden, was created as the daughter of one of my first characters. (Yes, that makes me feel a little old.) Her mom Kristian Brennan makes a brief appearance in Crazy Dreams. But she also made a brief appearance in The Safest Place.
Kylie Wilken, one of the gymnasts casually mentioned in Just a Kiss, makes a cameo appearance. And the archer also in that scene, Myka Patterson, is the niece of Jake Patterson (Mad Dog Chronicles).
Do I need to read any of those stories to enjoy this one?
No. I used a few characters I had already created, but they hadn’t appeared in any previous story.
What’s next?
I have a short story collection coming out soon. And I’ll tell you all about it in an upcoming blog.
