Why is it set in St. Augustine?
In November 2009, I spent a couple of nights in St. Augustine. We went to the Lighthouse and Castillo de San Marcos (the fort), and it rained every day we were there. The rest of our vacation was down in Orlando, but I kept thinking about those nights. I knew I wanted to write a story that would be set in St. Augustine.
Will we see any of the characters from Mad Dog Chronicles (MDC)?
Not in this chapter. I can’t say I’ll never have a crossover between the two stories, but Adventures in St. Augustine (ASA) will have its own characters. In the first episode, we meet Murphy Russell, who I think is quite different from Maddie or Stephanie of MDC. I can’t say too much about the characters at this time, since only the first installment is available. But in future installments, we meet her brother Connor Russell. I’ll talk more about the characters in an upcoming blog entry.
Will this story also have 36 installments, like MDC?
No. I’m writing this story in 12 installments. They will be posted every Sunday, like MDC was, with the finale scheduled for June 17.
Is there anything else to add?
This story has been fun to write. I can’t say too much right now, without giving away spoilers. In two weeks, my blog entry will compare Murphy to Maddie. While Maddie won’t be seen in ASA, she will be seen again soon. Mad Dog Chronicles - the Prequels is set to premiere June 24.
